The Wharf Donates Police Boat to City of Orange Beach
Orange Beach, AL – Kicking off the New Year with safety in mind, The Wharf is pleased to announce the donation of a 26 foot Silvership AM800 patrol boat to the City of Orange Beach’s police department. With a permanent home at The Marina at The Wharf, the police boat will patrol the Waterway and surrounding waters. "We want to thank the Wharf for their recent donation of the patrol boat. This, in my opinion, shows their commitment to the Orange Beach community for a safer city” says Chief of Police Billy Wilkins.
Officially arriving at The Wharf on Tuesday, February 21, the police boat will be equipped with state-of-art equipment, gear and instruments designed to make it a highly effective resource for keeping our waterways safe to navigate. The presentation will occur at 4:45 p.m. On hand to receive the boat will be the Assistant Police Chief Greg Duck, other city officials, plus representatives from AIG Baker and The Wharf. “We believe that the presence of a police boat will only enhance a visitor’s experience, whether they arrive by land or by water” says Beason Wilkes, Director of Development for AIG Baker’s Gulf Coast Division. “We are glad that we are able to play such an important role in the overall safety of Orange Beach’s residents and visitors”.
Taking nearly 6 months to build and assemble, the Orange Beach police boat was manufactured by Silverships of nearby Theodore, Alabama. The police boat is fitted with twin 200 horsepower outboard motors. The boat will be docked near the public fuel dock area of the Marina at The Wharf, with easy access to the Waterway.
